  • Graduated from Millersville University in 1997, BSE Social Studies.
  • Played MU football –Defensive Tackle -1993-1995 .
  • Varsity Coaching Experience at Hempfield -1997-1999
  • Coached at Salisbury High School, North Carolina in 2000.
  • Coached in Exeter Township from  2002-2008.
  • Currently a Social Studies teacher at Roherstown Education Center.
  • Wife Lisa and 2 Daughters ---Sophia 4 and Olivia 18 months

Mark Harman

Returns to the coaching staff at Hempfield.
  • Prior to joining Black Knights Staff, Harman coached 5 years as an assistant coach at Millersville Unitersity.
  • Duties included coaching running backs, tight ends and recruiting.
  • 1991 - Graduate of Hempfi eld - played tight end/ line backer
  • 1996 - Graduate of Millersville - played tight end
  • 2001-2007 Coached at Millerville University

  • Entering my 14th year as a volunteer with varsity football.
  • '87-'89 a two-way starter and three year varsity letter winner for Palmyra Area School Distict as a wide receiver and defensive back. '91-'93 a walk-on defensive back for legendary Coach Carpenter at Millersville University.
  • '95-2000 a volunteer assistant coach with defensive backs and wide receivers, Cedar Crest.
  • 2000-'06 a volunteer assistant coach with defensive backs and wide receivers, ELCO.
  • Vice President of Ames Services Limited located in Annville Pa.
  • Just moved into the school district with wife Jennifer and sons Jared (5) and Lucas (3).

Aril

  • Aril was three-year starter at Millersville University. Smith competed for Maruarder squad three consecutive (1979-1981) PSAC East titles.
  • As a senior, Smith was co-captain for the Marauders.
  • Prior to joining the Black Knights, Smith coached defensive linemen and ends for Millersville from 1993-1995. He also served as an strength and conditioning instructor at Millersville from 1993-95. He rejoined the Ville for on year in 1998.

  • Smith served an internship in 1996 with Atlanta Falcons assisting their strength and conditioning program and defensive line. He remained with the Falcons for the next season.
  • His other professional activities include AFCA member CSCS; MSCA member, President’s Council on Physical Fitness, Central PA Chapter (1992-93) and Strength and Conditioning Clinic at the Washington Redskins Training (March and April 1995).
  • Smith also was an assistant strength coach for the Cleveland Browns (1999-2001).
  • Smith decided to start coaching again in 2005-2006 when he joined Forgrave at Penn Manor High School. 2007 was his first year with the Black Knights.
  • Smith was born in Philadelphia, PA and was raised in Yearron, PA. He has two sons, Ian 17, and Andre 8.

Steve Mummaw

  • 1968 Graduate of Hempfield High School where he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track
  • Graduated from East Stroudsburg State College with a BA and Masters in Physical Education.
  • Holds football records at East Stroudsburg: 20 passing TD;s in 1 season, most completions in one game -38, most completions in one season -152
  • 1970 -1971 All Conference PSAC and Little All American
  • Earned his Athletic Training Certification at West Chester State College
  • 1999 became Athletic Director at Hempfield High School
